Excerpt (2021)

Excerpt (Where are you?) is the third of my 1) films, left incomplete. I like to conceptualise this film as an excerpt that regardless of its status, is still a complete piece.

- My newfound interest in sci-fi incentivized by an interest in speculation and the unknown.

- Feelings of longing in response to literal physical distance. The feeling of being planets away

- An appreciation for maternal figures in my life and culturally

- Aesthetics of a genre that in age, have become cheesy, charming and now very atypical of commercial forms of making.

- Practical effects: Ingenuity and craft that brought life to the impossible, the unreal and the anomalous.

- Looping, never ending > the search continues

This video is to be shown as part of my solo exhibition at Seventh Gallery in early May 2023. The video will be projected onto a traditional Romanian rug woven by my great grandmother

- Fabric roughly cut and measured by reference of my body

- Sewn together haphazardly with yarn

- No patterns, no sketches, no skill, no experience

- Priest; grandma; megaman; vague sci-fi aesthetics informed the design
